Date: September 19

Time: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Location: Five locations
What: DPR paired up with Rebuilding Together to take on five renovation projects in SF, Daly City, Oakland, East Palo Alto and San Jose.

At the San Francisco site, volunteers transformed the home of a long-time resident by clearing her basement, replacing piers and beams, installing new cabinets and range hood in the kitchen, and clearing exterior brush that climbed the walls - letting sunlight in for the first time in years.

At the East Palo Alto site, volunteers spent the day making upgrades repairs to a property that a couple has called home for 50 years. By the end of the day, DPR volunteers had replaced the flooring in the kitchen, laundry room and bedroom, replaced one toilet, repaired the kitchen sink, made multiple electrical/lighting upgrades in the house, and much more.

In Oakland, a two-day effort at Canticle Farm yielded a primed, caulked and painted exterior, upgraded lighting, repaired downspouts, re-built fence and assorted repairs to wooden fencing and structures and removal of a LARGE amount of green waste. The day was hot, the air was dusty, the scaffolding a little scary, but the 14 DPR volunteers and 85 student volunteers made a huge impact that couldn't have been made otherwise.

Time: 9:00 am - noon
Location: James River State Park
What: DPR’s project team from Virginia Commonwealth University’s PSR project, along with the owner’s project representatives, spent the morning cleaning up the popular 22nd Street Dry Rocks area of the James River State Park and Bell Aisle. Work included trash pickup throughout the area plus painting the cover graffiti and vandalism on the rocks.
